Looking back at the developments made in the last century, one significant phenomenon: the thrust of increase in food production, which was done successfully, by all means, but all the rest was ignored and forgotten and that became the root cause to all problems. Burning of fossil fuels, mining & smelting of metalliferous ores, occurrence of salinity, and over dozes of fertilizers & pesticides pose major environmental and human health problems. The humans, in their endeavor to increase food production by all means, forgot and ignored the vital link in all ecosystems the Microorganisms.
